– Mahila Kisan Union Calls for BJP Boycott In Ensuing Elections
Jalandhar, March 3 – The Mahila Kisan Union, a constituent member of Sanyukt Kisan Morcha (SKM), has vehemently condemned and expressed deep dismay over the BJP’s decision to grant a parliamentary ticket to the accused murderer, Teny Mishra and said with this decision the prime minister Narendra Modi has rubbed the salt on farmers’ wounds.
In a scathing statement, Biba Rajwinder Kaur Raju, President of the Mahila Kisan Union (MKU), said people of the country would never forget this insult and respond at the polls, adding she said the MKU calls for a boycott of saffron party in the upcoming elections.
Women farmers’ leader lamented that Teny Mishra and his son Ashish Mishra have a stark testament to disregard for human life and violence against farmers, as four farmers and a journalist were mowed down under the vehicle in a broad daylight in Lakhimpur Kheri. Despite being implicated in murder cases, Mishra has been rewarded with a ticket by the BJP, sending a clear message of apathy towards farmers’ grievances and demands, she added.
Biba Raju stressed that justice for the victims of Lakhimpur Kheri is not just a demand but a moral imperative of SKM. The BJP’s decision to endorse Mishra reflects NDA government callousness and insensitivity towards the plight of farmers, she pointed out.
Furthermore, Biba Raju pointed out the stark double standards of the Modi government and its “double engine” dispensations in dealing with law and order issues, citing incidents like the barbarity of the Haryana Police at Punjab borders. Such actions, she argued, reflect a gross violation of human rights reminiscent of historical atrocities like the Jallianwala Bagh massacre by general Michael O’Dwyer.
She categorically said the Mahila Kisan Union stands in solidarity with the farmers and laborers of the country and urges all citizens to reject the BJP’s politics of violence and injustice in the general elections.
