AAP govt reneged from its promises of providing MSP : Bajwa

Chandigarh, March 1 (Punjab Khabarnama): The Leader of the Opposition (LoP), Partap Singh Bajwa on the first day of the budget session in the Punjab Assembly on Friday sought the resignation of the Punjab Chief Minister Bhagwant Mann for lodging a Zero FIR after young farmer, Shubhkaran Singh’s killing.
Addressing the media persons outside the assembly, Bajwa said that Bhagwant Mann has no moral ground to remain in the position of Punjab CM because he failed miserably to protect the protesting farmers of Punjab. He failed to safeguard the territory of Punjab.
“CM Mann has been acting as an agent of the BJP-led Union Government. He lodged an FIR fearing action from the Punjab and Haryana High Court on my petition. The Aam Aadmi Party government got the post-mortem of Shubhkaran Singh at 11 PM on February 28, which was against the advisory of the health departments of the centre and state governments. The postmortems can only be conducted in the sunlight”, Bajwa added.
Senior Congress Leader, Bajwa said that to weaken the case, the AAP government has all set to establish that the killing of Shubhkaran Singh took place in the jurisdiction of Garhi police station of Jind district of Haryana. This FIR is nothing but an eyewash.
“After the Behbal Kalan firing incident, Bhagwant Mann criticised the SAD-BJP alliance government for lodging an FIR against the unknown policemen. Now he registered an FIR against the unidentified persons. We want the name of Haryana Home Minister Anil Vij to be mentioned in the FIR”, Bajwa added.
The opposition leader said that CM Mann had promised that if the central government would not procure crops on MSP, the AAP Punjab government would give MSP to farmers. Why has the AAP reneged from its commitments now?
“The farmers’ protest also took place in the Congress regime in 2022. We did not use force to suppress the protest. However, the AAP could not protect the interests of the Punjab farmers”, Bajwa added.
