Chandigarh February 23 (Punjab Khabarnama) Within few hours of widespread condemnation of BJP government in Haryana state, the Ambala police has taken ‘U’ turn and has taken back its decision to invoke national security act (NSA) on protesting farmers in Haryana.
In a press release Sibash Kabiraj, IGP Ambala Range clarified that the matter of invoking provisions of the NSA on few farm union leaders of district Ambala has been reconsidered and it has been decided that the same would not be invoked.
He further added that “Haryana Police appeals to the protestors and their leaders to maintain peace and co-operate with the authorities in maintaining law and order”.
It is mentioned here that the Ambala police on Thursday late night has issued a statement in Hindi to invoke NSA on farmers indulging in protests at borders and to confiscate/freeze their properties and bank accounts so as to compensate for the damages caused to the state or private properties.
It is further informed that the Haryana police has registered an attempt to murder case against the agitating farmers on the border.
