Mumbai, November 19: In a shocking turn of events, filmmaker Sanjay Gadhvi, celebrated for directing the blockbuster film Dhoom, passed away at the age of 56 in his Mumbai residence on Sunday. His daughter, Sanjina Gadhvi, revealed the news to PTI, expressing that he was in perfect health and was on the brink of celebrating his 57th birthday in just three days.

Sanjay Gadhvi left an indelible mark on Bollywood with his directorial prowess, notably helming the 2004 hit Dhoom and its 2006 sequel Dhoom 2. The news of his untimely demise has reverberated across the film industry, prompting an outpouring of condolences from Bollywood luminaries.

Sanjina Gadhvi shared with PTI, “He passed away at 9.30 am this morning at his residence. We are not sure what it is, but it is most likely a heart attack. He wasn’t unwell, he was perfectly healthy.” The sudden and unexpected nature of his passing has left the industry and fans in shock.

Leading production house Yash Raj Films (YRF), home to the Dhoom franchise, expressed their condolences, acknowledging Gadhvi’s significant contribution to Indian cinema. Abhishek Bachchan, the lead actor of Dhoom, took to social media to share his shock and pay tribute to the talented director. Bipasha Basu, who starred in Dhoom 2, also shared her heartfelt condolences, remembering Gadhvi as a visionary filmmaker.
