“Farishtey” Will Save Your Life
Punjab Government Enhances Road Safety with Innovative Emergency Care App
Under the leadership of Bhagwant Mann, the Punjab Government has introduced the “Farishte scheme”, designed to improve road safety and emergency medical services for accident victims. This initiative enables swift transportation to hospitals through real-time navigation provided by the Mapplz mobile app. By leveraging cutting-edge technology, the scheme aims to significantly reduce response times in critical situations, potentially saving numerous lives.
To date, 384 hospitals—including 238 private and 146 public facilities—have registered under the Farishte Scheme, aimed at minimising fatalities from road accidents by ensuring prompt medical assistance. Individuals who assist accident victims by transporting them to hospitals are recognized as “farishtas” and are rewarded with ₹2,000 and a certificate of appreciation. This recognition not only incentivizes citizens to act quickly in emergencies but also fosters a sense of community responsibility toward road safety. They are also exempted from legal complications, encouraging timely help during emergencies.
This initiative exemplifies the Punjab Government’s commitment to improving road safety and emergency care services, reinforcing a community-based approach to protecting lives on the roads. With the collaborative effort of citizens and the government, Punjab is taking significant strides toward a safer driving environment for all
