Mann Government’s 'Bill Liyao, Inaam Paao' Scheme Gaining Popularity Across Punjab
The Punjab Government, under the leadership of the Punjab, has introduced the highly successful “Bill Liyao, Inaam Paao” scheme, which is playing a pivotal role in enhancing tax compliance across the state. This innovative initiative encourages consumers to demand bills from dealers during purchases, raising awareness about the significance of proper documentation in transactions.
By offering cash prizes of up to ₹1 lakh through a monthly draw for participants who upload their purchase bills via the ‘Mera Bill’ app, the scheme provides a strong incentive for public involvement. The program is not only benefiting the people of Punjab through rewards but is also effectively curbing tax evasion, thereby boosting the state’s financial health. With increasing participation and numerous residents already receiving rewards, the initiative is gaining widespread popularity.
Punjab’s Finance Minister, Harpal Singh Cheema, recently highlighted the success of the Punjab Government’s “Bill Liyao, Inaam Paao” scheme, showcasing its impact on improving tax compliance. So far, 97,443 bills have been uploaded to the ‘Mera Bill’ app, with 2,601 winners receiving a total of ₹1,516,233 in cash prizes. Additionally, 709 winners are yet to claim ₹413,945 in pending rewards. These numbers reflect the growing public engagement driven by the government’s initiative.
To further strengthen the state’s tax enforcement, the Punjab Government has implemented stringent measures against tax fraud. Fines amounting to ₹7,927,741 have been imposed on individuals and businesses issuing fraudulent bills, with ₹6,169,869 already recovered. This emphasises the Mann Government’s dedication to fostering transparency and accountability in the taxation system.
The scheme’s success is a clear indication of the Punjab Government’s proactive strategy in fortifying the state’s tax structure, rewarding honest taxpayers while curbing fraudulent practices.
