24 June 2024 Punjab Khabarnama Patiala : As paddy transplanting has gained pace in Punjab, the power demand in Punjab has shot up again to over 15,200 MW after two days of relief that was witnessed due to rains in some parts of the state.
Meanwhile, the two thermal power units in the state have tripped, leading to shortage of in-house power generation and purchase of more power from outside sources.

One power unit at the state-run GGSST power plant in Ropar and one at TSPL Mansa have shut down. Sources said that both the units are expected to revive operations by Tuesday.
