May 30 (Punjab Khabarnama) : Irda, the regulator of the insurance sector (IRDAI) has taken a big decision to make health insurance easier. Irda has given a big relief to the customers and has instructed the insurance companies that they have to take a decision within 1 hour regarding the cashless treatment. Also, within 3 hours of receiving the discharge request, a decision must be taken on the approval of the insurance companies.
No one should be made to wait in the hospital for discharge
Irda has made many major changes regarding health insurance policy on Wednesday. He has issued a master circular withdrawing his 55 circulars. All the rules have been brought in one place. The biggest change has been made in the claim process. According to the master circular, in no case should the policy holder be made to wait in the hospital for discharge. The companies must give approval within 3 hours in any case, if there is more delay then the insurance company will have to pay the additional expenses.
In case of death, complete the paperwork as soon as possible
If the policyholder dies, the insurance company has to complete the paperwork as soon as possible and settle the claim so that the family can get the body immediately. All companies should take immediate action towards achieving the goal of 100 percent cashless claim settlement. In case of emergency, they have to take a decision on approval within an hour. IRDA has set a deadline of July 31, 2024 for insurance companies to comply with these rules. Insurance companies will also have to set up help desks inside hospitals.
The offer will be available to non-claim policy holders
IRDA has instructed all the companies to issue health insurance products with all the features. The customer information sheet of insurance companies must also be provided with the policy. If there are many policies, the customer will have the freedom to choose. Non-claiming policy holders will have to offer. Those who terminate the policy midway will have to return the money to the company.
