However, the company’s consolidated profit after tax (PAT) declined by 2.5 per cent compared with the corresponding quarter of the previous financial year.

According to the company’s unaudited financial results announced on November 5, 2026, Fortis recorded revenue of ₹2,735 crore during the July-September quarter, compared with ₹2,331 crore in Q2 FY26. Its consolidated profit after tax stood at ₹320 crore, down from ₹329 crore in the same period last year.

The company’s profit after tax margin also declined to 11.7 per cent from 14.1 per cent in the corresponding quarter of the previous financial year. Profit after tax attributable to shareholders, after accounting for minority interest and share in associates, stood at ₹312 crore, compared with ₹322 crore a year earlier.

Despite the decline in reported profit, Fortis continued to record growth across its hospital and diagnostics businesses. The company’s performance was supported by higher hospital occupancy, improved revenue per patient and increased demand for healthcare and diagnostic services.

Hospital Business Records Strong Revenue Growth

Fortis Healthcare’s hospital business remained a major contributor to its overall financial performance. Revenue from the hospital segment increased 18.6 per cent year-on-year to ₹2,340 crore in Q2 FY27, compared with ₹1,974 crore in the corresponding quarter last year.

However, profit after tax from the hospital business declined slightly by 1.1 per cent to ₹284 crore, compared with ₹287 crore in Q2 FY26. The segment’s PAT margin also fell to 12.1 per cent from 14.5 per cent.

Hospital occupancy improved to 72 per cent during the September quarter, compared with 71 per cent in the same period last year. The company’s average revenue per inpatient increased to ₹2.10 lakh from ₹1.96 lakh, indicating improved revenue generation per patient.

The average length of stay remained relatively stable at 4.20 days compared with 4.18 days in Q2 FY26.

According to the company, hospital revenue growth was supported by an approximately 7 per cent increase in average revenue per patient and a 9 per cent rise in occupied beds compared with the previous year’s corresponding quarter.

Diagnostics Business Delivers Double-Digit Growth

Fortis Healthcare’s diagnostics business also reported positive results during the quarter. Gross revenue from the segment increased 12.2 per cent year-on-year to ₹448 crore, compared with ₹400 crore in Q2 FY26.

The diagnostics business recorded a stronger improvement in profitability, with profit after tax rising 15.8 per cent to ₹68 crore from ₹59 crore in the corresponding quarter last year.

Its PAT margin improved to 15.2 per cent from 14.8 per cent, reflecting better profitability in the segment.

The company stated that its diagnostics operations continued to demonstrate consistent growth and operational momentum. The expansion of its diagnostic network and focus on preventive healthcare services are among the factors supporting the business.

Six-Month Financial Performance

For the first six months of FY27, Fortis Healthcare reported consolidated revenue of ₹5,280 crore, representing a growth of 17.4 per cent compared with ₹4,498 crore in the corresponding period of the previous financial year.

However, consolidated profit after tax for the April-September period declined slightly to ₹593 crore from ₹596 crore, representing a fall of 0.4 per cent.

Profit before tax, excluding exceptional items, increased 5.8 per cent to ₹783 crore during the first half of FY27, compared with ₹740 crore in the year-ago period.

The figures indicate that the company has maintained revenue growth across its major business segments, although its overall profit margins have experienced some pressure.

Fortis Continues Expansion in Bengaluru and Delhi NCR

Alongside its financial performance, Fortis Healthcare is continuing to expand its presence in important healthcare markets across India.

The company recently acquired Suguna Hospital, a 110-bed healthcare facility in Bengaluru. Following the acquisition, Fortis said its total operational bed capacity in the Bengaluru region would increase to approximately 1,000 beds.

It has also entered into a long-term healthcare services agreement for a super-specialty hospital with more than 400 beds in Ashok Vihar, New Delhi.

These initiatives are expected to strengthen the company’s presence in Bengaluru and the Delhi NCR region and support its long-term expansion strategy.

Fortis Managing Director and Chief Executive Officer Dr Ashutosh Raghuvanshi said the company had recorded another quarter of sustained growth across its hospital and diagnostics businesses.

He highlighted the company’s continued focus on strengthening clinical capabilities, expanding its presence in key markets and improving healthcare services.

Raghuvanshi also said the diagnostics business had maintained consistent growth and strong operational momentum. He added that capacity expansion, clinical excellence and disciplined execution would remain important priorities for the company.

Debt Position and Future Outlook

Fortis Healthcare reported net debt of ₹2,188 crore as of September 30, 2026. Its net debt-to-EBITDA ratio stood at 0.87 times, compared with 0.96 times as of September 30, 2025. The company’s net debt-to-equity ratio improved to 0.20 times from 0.23 times during the same period.

The company is continuing to focus on expanding its hospital network, improving clinical infrastructure and increasing its presence in established and emerging healthcare markets.

With rising demand for quality healthcare services in India, Fortis is looking to strengthen both its hospital and diagnostics operations.

Overall, the Q2 FY27 results reflect strong revenue growth for Fortis Healthcare, supported by improved hospital occupancy and higher diagnostics revenue. However, the 2.5 per cent decline in consolidated profit highlights the pressure on profitability despite higher business revenues.
