15 October 2026 Punjab Khabarnama Bureau  : Bollywood superstar Salman Khan has opened up about one of the most frequently discussed aspects of his personal life: why he never got married. Appearing on the premiere episode of Koffee With Karan Season 9, hosted by filmmaker Karan Johar, the actor explained that remaining unmarried was his own decision and that he is happy with the life he has chosen. He also revealed that he hopes to have children at some point in the future.

The episode, which premiered on October 14, 2026, marked the return of Salman to the popular celebrity chat show. His conversation with Karan touched on marriage, relationships, loneliness, fatherhood and the importance of keeping personal matters away from public discussion.

‘Nobody Stopped Me; I Stopped Myself’

During the conversation, Karan brought up the subject of marriage and compared Salman’s single status with the changing personal lives of their friends, including actor Aamir Khan. Salman responded light-heartedly that he was doing fine and was happy for his friend.

When the discussion turned to why he had never married, Salman made it clear that he did not consider himself a victim of circumstances. He explained that nobody had prevented him from getting married and that the decision to remain single had ultimately been his own.

“Nobody stopped me from getting married; I stopped myself,” Salman said, explaining that he could not blame anyone else for his circumstances. He added that he was happy with the decision he had made.

The statement offered a candid glimpse into the actor’s perspective on relationships. Despite decades of public curiosity about his romantic life, Salman indicated that he did not regret his choice to remain unmarried.

Salman Khan Explains Why He Keeps His Personal Life Private

Salman also discussed why he has consistently avoided sharing details about his relationships in public. According to the actor, he has been cautious about discussing his private life since he was around 15 or 16 years old.

He credited his father, veteran screenwriter Salim Khan, with teaching him an important lesson about personal boundaries. Salman recalled his father comparing the bedroom to an individual’s private world and the living room to the wider public space.

The message, as Salman explained it, was that not everything belonging to a person’s private life should become public information. He said he had never wanted to discuss his personal relationships openly because circumstances can change and a person who is believed to be a potential life partner might eventually marry someone else.

The actor also revisited his much-discussed response during an earlier appearance on Koffee With Karan, when he was asked whether he was a virgin. Salman explained that the answer was his way of avoiding a conversation about his personal life rather than an invitation to further speculation.
