4 September 2026 Punjab Khabarnama Bureau : A high-profile Punjabi-origin police officer in Canada has been charged with multiple offences including fraud, theft and breach of trust following an undercover investigation conducted by his own police department.
Kalwinder “Kal” Dosanjh, a veteran constable with the Vancouver Police Department (VPD) and founder of the Surrey-based KidsPlay Foundation, faces nine charges, according to Canadian media reports. The charges were confirmed by the BC Prosecution Service.
Nine Charges Against Kal Dosanjh
Dosanjh, 50, has been charged with:
- Four counts of fraud over C$5,000
- Four counts of theft over C$5,000
- One count of breach of trust by a public officer
The alleged offences are reported to have occurred between December 8, 2017, and July 25, 2025, in Vancouver, Surrey and other locations in British Columbia.
Co-Accused Also Charged
Dosanjh is not the only person facing charges in the case.
His co-accused, Sarabjit Singh Gill, 51, faces six fraud and theft charges, according to the Vancouver Sun report cited by The Tribune.

The Surrey-based charity works with young people, particularly those considered at risk, using free sports programmes, camps and mentorship initiatives. Dosanjh founded the organisation after years of patrol work in Vancouver’s Downtown Eastside, with the stated aim of keeping youth away from drugs, gangs and violence.
