10 july 2026 Punjab Khabarnama Bureau : France booked their place in the FIFA World Cup 2026 semi-finals with a comfortable 2-0 victory over Morocco, extending their impressive run in the tournament. Kylian Mbappé and Ousmane Dembélé were once again on target as Les Bleus proved too strong for the Atlas Lions.
After a cautious opening half, France stepped up the intensity after the break. Mbappé broke the deadlock in the 60th minute, bouncing back from an earlier missed penalty, before Dembélé doubled the lead six minutes later with a clinical finish that effectively sealed the contest.
Morocco, who had impressed throughout the tournament, struggled to create meaningful chances against France’s disciplined defence. Goalkeeper Yassine Bounou kept Morocco in the game with several important saves, including denying Mbappé from the penalty spot in the first half, but the pressure eventually told.
France controlled possession for long periods and looked dangerous every time they attacked. Mbappé’s pace and movement continued to trouble Morocco’s backline, while Dembélé’s goal underlined France’s attacking depth.
With the victory, France advanced to the World Cup semi-finals, where they will face the winner of the quarter-final between Spain and Belgium. Morocco’s memorable campaign came to an end after another historic run on football’s biggest stage.
