Violators to face action under section 127 A of RP Act to be taken seriously
April 13 (Punjab Khabarnama) : District Election Officer Ludhiana Sakshi Sawhney on Saturday said that all political hoardings/flexes must also carry the names of the publisher and printer.
Citing the latest guidelines regarding the installation of election-related hoardings on sites controlled/regulated by Local self-government/Municipal Authorities, Sawhney said that ECI had mandated clear identification of printers and publishers on all printed election-related material including hoardings to ensure transparency and accountability. She said that as per section 127 A of the R P Act 1951, ‘printing or publishing’ of election pamphlets/posters without bearing the name and address of the printer and publisher on the face of these materials, is mandatory.
Sawhney urged all the local body authorities to fall in the jurisdiction of Ludhiana for strict compliance with the fresh guidelines of the Election Commission of India.
The District Election Officer also appealed to all political parties and owners of printing machines to ensure printing of the name and address of the printer as well as the publisher on the face of the election-related flex-hoardings, banners, posters, pamphlets etc.
