Cabinet Minister Mr. Gurmeet Singh Hair , who has been entrusted with the responsibility of Amritsar and Tarn Taran districts by the Chief Minister Mr. Bhagwant Mann , who came specially to take stock of the ongoing development works in the district , said in the meeting. It was made clear to the district officials that a special campaign should be launched to make the city clean. He said that first of all, the surroundings of Sri Darbar Sahib should be freed from garbage and the arrangement of collecting the garbage of this area in two parts, wet and dry, should be completed within two months.
He said that people’s money should not be misused and people’s work should be done on time. Referring to the waste management in the city, he asked the corporation officials to give a detailed report by the next meeting. He said that the responsibility of creating a clean environment is on all of us and it is necessary for us and our future. He reviewed the progress of Unity Mall being built in the district , the work being done under Swadesh Darshan , Smart City , MGNREGA , Public Works Department , Panchayat Department and other departments.
Speaking on the occasion, Cabinet Minister Mr. Kuldeep Singh Dhaliwal emphasized on developing good infrastructure for the convenience of thousands of tourists coming daily at Attari border. He said that by carrying out maximum work under MNREGA in the villages, where the village should be developed, employment opportunities should be created for the people. On this occasion Mr. Dhaliwal took the details of the works conducted by each department in cities and villages and discussed them in detail. Deputy Commissioner Mr. Ghansham Thori assured on behalf of the district officials that whatever orders are received from the government , all the officials will work on it honestly.
