SAS Nagar, April 10, 2024 (Punjab Khabarnama) The stage is set for the ‘Virsa Sambhal’ Baisakhi Gatka competition, scheduled to take place at Gurdwara Nanak Darbar, Sector 91, SAS Nagar on Friday April 12, 2024, from 4 pm to 8 pm. Dedicated to the ‘Khalsa Sajna Diwas’ – Baisakhi, this Sikh martial art event is being organised by the District Gatka Association (DGA) SAS Nagar in collaboration with International Sikh Martial Art Council and National Gatka Association of India (NGAI), the oldest registered Gatka organisation of the country.
Disclosing this former MC Phool Raj, chief coordinator of DGA and chairman of international affairs directorate of the NGAI, said this prestigious event promises a captivating showcase of martial skills by Gatkabaaz from renowned Gatka Akharas.
Announcing more details, DGA chairman Parmjeet Singh Chouhan, president Kuldeep Singh Samana and general secretary RP Sharma emphasised the inclusive nature of the competition and said boys and girls would participate the martial art demonstrations and Gatka competitions, while Gatka Soti-Fari individual contests would add an extra dimension to this traditional form of Gatka.
They highlighted that winning players would receive special felicitation, and certificates would also be presented to all Gatka participants. On the occasion MLA Kulwant Singh will be the chief guest and Gurmeet Singh Chairman Sri Guru Harkrishan Sahib Charitable Hospital Sohana will preside over the function.
