Chandigarh, April 8 (Punjab khabarnama) : Students and staff of J.C. Bose University of Science and Technology University, YMCA, Faridabad, today took a ‘Voter Oath’ to uphold the democratic traditions of the country and participate in the electoral process.
They also pledged to exercise their voting rights during the Lok Sabha elections scheduled for May 25, 2024. The ‘Voter Oath’ programme was organized by the Nodal Officer Prof. Vasudev Malhotra in collaboration with the University’s Student Welfare Office and NSS Unit. During this event, more than 400 students and staff took the ‘voter oath’. Apart from the Secretary, Dr. Meha Sharma, Student Welfare Coordinator Prof. Manish Vashisht, Training and Placement Officer Prof. Rajesh Ahuja, other senior officers of the university were also present.
This ‘Voter Oath’ programme is part of the district election office’s initiative aimed at increasing voter turnout during the Lok Sabha elections. Vice-Chancellor, Prof. SK Tomar commended the initiative for electoral literacy, stating that it is commendable that the younger generation is aware of their rights and understands the importance of the right to vote. He said that encouraging student participation in the activities of democracy-building is important because it is essential for the society and the nation as a whole.
