Batala,14 Aug 2025 (Punjab Khabarnama Bureau): Punjab’s Working President and young Batala MLA Aman Sher Singh “Sherry” Kalsi said that under the leadership of Chief Minister Bhagwant Singh Mann, the Punjab Government’s initiative to provide panchayat houses and service centers will mark the beginning of a new era of facilities in villages.
MLA Sherry Kalsi stated that the government has launched a project worth ₹125 crore to construct 500 modern panchayat houses and common service centers across the state. He added that in every village with a population of over 2,800, one panchayat house and one common service center will be built. In the first phase, construction is underway in 500 villages.
He explained that these panchayat houses will not just be offices but will act as the central hub for discussions and planning related to village development. The common service centers, he said, will be key to ushering in a digital revolution in rural areas, making it easier for villagers to access various online services.
Highlighting their importance, Sherry Kalsi said that in today’s digital era, many services like applying for government schemes, getting admission to educational institutions, making Aadhaar cards or passports, and more are available online. These centers will play an important role in delivering such services to the people’s doorsteps.
He further said that Punjab is witnessing change in every sector because people’s needs are being addressed. He mentioned that 90% of households in Punjab now receive zero electricity bills, providing significant financial relief. The government has opened Aam Aadmi Clinics where patients get free daily medical treatment and Schools of Eminence to provide students with higher-quality education.
