Gurdaspur, 14 July 2025 (Punjab Khabarnama Bureau) : The State Election Commission has announced the election schedule for filling vacant seats of Sarpanches and Panches in Gram Panchayats. As per the schedule, elections will be held on July 27 in Gurdaspur district for 15 Sarpanch seats and 275 Panch seats.

Additional Deputy Commissioner (Development) Mr. Gurpreet Singh Gill informed that the nomination process will begin on July 14 and the last date for filing nominations is July 17. Nominations can be submitted between 11:00 a.m. and 3:00 p.m. The scrutiny of nomination papers will take place on July 18, and the last date to withdraw nominations is July 19. Voting will be held on July 27, and counting of votes will take place at polling stations immediately after polling ends. He added that the entire process of nomination, polling, and counting will be videographed as per the guidelines of the State Election Commission.

The Additional Deputy Commissioner further informed that Sarpanch elections will be held in the following villages:

Dinanagar block: Shehzada, Kotli Mai Umri
Gurdaspur block: Baupur Afghanan, Ghulla
Dhariwal block: Cheena Rail Wala
Kahnuwan block: Kallu Sohal
Batala block: Sodepur, Kulli Chak Khassa
Fatehgarh Churian block: Thatta, Khehira Khurd
Dera Baba Nanak block: Dhilwan, Singhpura, Khode Bet
Kalanaur block: Chikri, Kotla Mughlan

In addition, elections will also be held for 275 Panch seats in various villages across different blocks of the district.
