Barnala, April 7 (Punjab Khabarnama Bureau): Under the development-oriented vision of Punjab Chief Minister S. Bhagwant Singh Mann and the leadership of Punjab Education Minister S. Harjot Singh Bains, crores of rupees are being spent across the state to revamp government schools through the campaign “Punjab Education Revolution: Transforming Punjab.” These projects are dedicated to the students and aim to upgrade school infrastructure and facilities.
As part of this initiative, today in Barnala district, Sangrur Member of Parliament S. Gurmeet Singh Meet Hayer inaugurated development works in various schools worth over ₹82 lakhs. He inaugurated the completion of a boundary wall constructed at a cost of ₹11.26 lakhs at Government Primary School Patti Sekhwan. Additionally, he inaugurated the construction of a classroom and boundary wall worth ₹11.82 lakhs at Government Middle School Patti Sekhwan. At Government Senior Secondary School for Girls, Barnala, he inaugurated projects worth ₹38.66 lakhs, which included classrooms and boundary wall work. Similarly, at Government Primary School Bajwa Patti, he inaugurated the construction of classrooms, toilets, and a boundary wall worth ₹21.15 lakhs.
He stated that the Punjab government is investing crores of rupees in government school projects, strengthening basic infrastructure and significantly improving the quality of education. He added that government schools are now being equipped with facilities comparable to private institutions, leading to students from these schools excelling in academics and sports.
He reaffirmed that the Punjab government is committed to an educational revolution. Security guards and sanitation workers have been appointed in schools. Wi-Fi facilities have also been provided.
On this occasion, Gurleen Kaur, a student of Government Middle School Patti Sekhwan, said that the construction of classrooms and a boundary wall has transformed the school’s appearance. Teachers teach with great dedication, and the academic results are excellent.
Jaspal Singh, a Panch from Patti Sekhwan, said his two children study at the Government Primary School Patti Sekhwan, where quality education is being provided. He mentioned that there is a wave of happiness among villagers as the education revolution in Barnala district is starting from their village school.
Swaraj Singh Bhathal, a Block Committee Member, said that high-quality construction work was carried out for rooms and the boundary wall at Patti Sekhwan’s middle school, significantly improving the school’s infrastructure. He thanked the Punjab government for this initiative.
Also present on the occasion were Ram Teerath Manna (Chairman, Nagar Sudhar Trust), Parminder Singh Bhangu (Chairman), Harinder Singh Dhaliwal, Indu Simak (District Education Officer), Madam Neerja (Deputy District Education Officer), Satnam Singh Fateh (District Education Coordinator), teachers, students, parents, and dignitaries.
Barnala City’s Look Changing with Crores Worth of Projects
While addressing the media, MP Meet Hayer stated that projects worth crores of rupees have been initiated in Barnala city for waste management. The garbage dump near the grain market is being eliminated. The Municipal Council has been provided with new garbage collection vehicles. Beautification of city intersections is underway, and a water supply pipeline project has also been introduced.
He further mentioned that due to the Punjab government’s efforts and the establishment of a dedicated Road Safety Force, the rate of road accident fatalities in Punjab has dropped by 50%. This initiative was even appreciated in Parliament by Union Minister Nitin Gadkari.
