Chandigarh, January 4, 2025 (Punjab Khabarnama Bureau): Indian cricket team superstar batsman Virat Kohli appears unwilling to learn from his mistakes. Despite being one of the best in the world, he continues to get out in similar fashion in almost every match, proving that he is failing with the bat. In the second innings of the Sydney Test, Kohli was dismissed after playing a shot to a delivery going outside off-stump. Former cricketers have repeatedly advised him not to play such shots, as the Indian team expects big innings from him, but Kohli seems unwilling to make adjustments.

The ongoing Test series between India and Australia will be remembered for the mistakes of one player, and that player is none other than Virat Kohli. No one expected such repeated failures from an experienced batsman like him. In several recent series, he has been dismissed in similar fashion—playing at deliveries going outside off-stump and getting caught in the slip field. In the first innings of the Sydney Test, when Kohli got out in the same manner, he was advised to avoid such shots in the second innings, but he did not make any changes to his batting.

How many times will Kohli be dismissed like this?

When Kohli failed to score runs in the Test series against Bangladesh, everyone thought he would correct his mistakes. Even in the home series against New Zealand, Kohli’s form was under scrutiny. After arriving in Australia, he continued to make the same mistakes, getting out in similar fashion. Even former Indian cricketers like Irfan Pathan and Sanjay Manjrekar openly advised him to let the ball go outside off-stump rather than playing at it, as it was causing him to lose his wicket repeatedly. Despite these suggestions, Kohli’s form did not improve, and he was dismissed again in the same way in both innings of the Sydney Test, handing wickets to Australia.

No improvement in his last 20 innings

Looking at Kohli’s last 20 Test innings, he has only managed to score a century once and a score of 70 in one match. Apart from that, he has repeatedly thrown away his wicket by playing shots at deliveries outside off-stump. Every bowler knows about this weakness, but Kohli continues to fall into the same trap, getting out in similar fashion. After his century in the Perth Test, he has scored 7, 11, 3, 36, 5, 17, and 6 runs, further raising concerns about his recent form.
