The Bathinda police have registered two FIRs against farm leaders on serious charges, including rioting, unlawful detention, intent to commit murder, taking two officials hostage and clashing with the police at Raike Kalan grain market on Friday night.
As per the first FIR, a case has been registered against BKU (Ekta-Ugrahan) leaders Jagsir Singh Jhumba, Ram Singh, Gora Singh, Ajaypal Singh and 40 unidentified persons at the Nandgarh police station. The FIR has been registered on the complaint of Punjgrain Inspector Rajveer Singh.
The second FIR has been registered against BKU (Ekta-Ugrahan) senior vice-president Jhanda Singh Jethuke, Harjinder Singh Baggi, Gurtej Singh, Buta Singh, Jagdev Singh, Lachman Singh, Jagsir Singh, Jaskaran Singh, Ram Singh, Ajaypal Singh and some unidentified persons. This FIR has been registered on the statement of injured ASI Paramjeet Singh.
SSP Amneet Kondal said, “Two FIRs have been registered. The police and the civil administration were doing their duty. Some officials were held hostage and when a police party tried to get them freed, they were attacked.”
The BKU (Ekta-Ugrahan) activists on Tuesday held protests at the Raika Kalan grain market. Union leaders said, “It related to paddy procurement. The AAP government is trying to hide its shortcomings by using police force and registering false cases against our leaders.”
