Vicky Kaushal has become a big name in the film industry today. His films like Masaan, Sam Bahadur and Sardar Udham Singh have given him special recognition among the audience. But Vicky’s journey has not been easy. He is the son of senior stunt director Sham Kaushal, yet he had to struggle a lot to make his place in the film industry.
Vicky got many rejections
Vicky faced rejections many times and despite his hard work, he was even refused auditions at times. This was shared by Vicky’s father, Sham Kaushal himself. Sham said that from the very beginning he wanted his children to focus on good studies and choose a secure career. When Vicky and his brother said that they wanted to become actors, it came as a shock to him, as he was also associated with the film industry. However, Sham supported his children and never stopped them from pursuing their dreams.
Vicky’s father supported him but did not provide him any professional help
Sham Kaushal said, “I could not refuse my children because I myself was associated with the film industry and was working here. I thought people might call my children for tea in my honour, but no one would invest crores in a film with them. I also come from a village and work hard, so I also knew that if they work hard and honestly, there will be no obstacle in their way.”
Shyam also said that he was always there for his kids as a father, but he never helped them professionally. He said, “As an action director I never asked anyone to give work to my son Vicky, many times people refused saying why should we audition for Vicky”.
A father’s fear for Vicky
Recently, Sham Kaushal shared an interesting thing. He told that he was scared while watching Vicky perform a dangerous fire suicide scene in the film Donkey. Sham said, “I am very ruthless when it comes to work and always think how to make this scene the best. But when I saw Vicky performing the fire stunt, I got scared.” This shows that even though he is a stunt director, it is always challenging for a father to watch his son perform dangerous stunts.
