During his first visit to India, Microsoft AI CEO Mustafa Suleyman expressed pride that India is one of the company’s fastest growing markets and highlighted that one of its strongest teams worldwide is located in Bengaluru and Hyderabad.

Speaking at the “Creating AI Fellowship for Microsoft India” event in Bengaluru, Suleman, who is also the co-founder of DeepMind, said the country has highly talented engineers and developers. He emphasised the importance of including professionals from different fields such as social scientists, psychologists, physicians and comedians, which will increase diversity and inclusiveness in AI solutions.

In a discussion with S Krishnan, Secretary, Ministry of Electronics and Information Technology, Suleman spoke about the economic benefits of AI in India. He said that AI will make information and knowledge accessible to everyone, allowing people to be more effective in their work. He mentioned Microsoft 365 Copilot, an AI-powered productivity tool that helps users accomplish their tasks.

Suleman said the tool understands users’ needs using big language modeling and Microsoft Graph data. This gives working professionals access to critical information that makes their work easier.
