Simranjit Singh Mann today announced the candidature of his grandson Govind Singh Sandhu (27) for the Barnala by-election. Govind is the son of Mann’s daughter Pavitra Kaur. This is the first election for Govind. He has graduated in History (Hons) from Delhi University after passing out from The Doon School, Dehradun. He is already the party’s organisation secretary. Mann said that the candidates for the remaining three constituencies Gidderbaha, Chabbewal and Dera Baba Nanak will be decided in the next meeting. Representatives of all Panthic organisations present on the occasion appealed to ensure a resounding victory of Govind Singh Sandhu in the by-election. The meeting was attended by former Akal Takht Jathedar Jasvir Singh Rode and Sher-e-Punjab Akali Dal President Gurdeep Singh Bathinda as well as representatives of various organisations and political organisations.
