By-elections are going to be held in four constituencies in Punjab on the 13th. Due to which the names of candidates from four constituencies have been announced by the Aam Aadmi Party. But a controversy has started over fielding a candidate from the Barnala seat.
On the one hand, the political environment is divided over the by-elections in Punjab. On the other hand, a clash has started over the candidature of the Aam Aadmi Party in Punjab. Yes, the district Aam Aadmi Party president from Barnala has given an ultimatum regarding the candidature. Alleging that old workers are being ignored by the party.
Speaking on this occasion, Gurdeep Singh Bath said that Aam Aadmi Party has given ticket from Barnala in a very wrong way. Like other parties, nepotism has started in Aam Aadmi Party too. He said that Harinder Singh Dhaliwal, who was made a candidate, has no identity, his only identity is his friendship with MP Meet Hare.
He said that I joined the party in 2014 after quitting my job in an engineering college. Worked for the party for five consecutive years and was later made party president in 2018. I have been working as District President for 7 consecutive years. The district presidents of the entire Punjab were changed, but I am still working.
He said that the party had given ticket to Meet Hare in 2017 and 2022, we all supported him. The district president of Sangrur was given a ticket for the 2022 Lok Sabha elections. But now the party has fielded its candidate in the Lok Sabha elections. After which came the Barnala Assembly elections, for which the party workers and all the surveys were in favor of giving me the ticket. The party also fully helped in giving tickets and we continued our work. But during ticket distribution, Harinder Dhaliwal was made the candidate.
He said that during these 7 years the party has taken charge in Gujarat, Haryana, Jalandhar and Delhi. We used to leave home for a party every 3 months. Harinder Dhaliwal, whom the party has made its candidate, has not done any work for the party even for a single day. He said that he has been working selflessly as the Chairman of the District Planning Board for the last two and a half years. He said that if the party wants to start nepotism like this, they will not allow it. He appealed to the party high command to change the Barnala ticket.
He said that if this ticket is not changed, then he will take the next decision along with his supporters and workers. Gurdeep Singh Bath said that after becoming an MP, Meet Hare did not contact him even for a day when he was the district president. He said that during the 2017 elections, Harinder Dhaliwal was introducing himself to people by calling him his aunt’s son. He said that being a friend or aunt’s son of a Member of Parliament is not a qualification for candidature.
Gurdeep Singh Bath can also stand as an independent candidate
On this occasion, the traditional leaders of the party, Master Prem Kumar, Hariom, Sandeep Sharma, Rajat Bansal, Subedar Mahinder Singh said that the party has given a very wrong ticket. All party leaders and workers are in favor of giving ticket to Gurdeep Singh Bath. If the party does not change its decision about the ticket within 24 hours, they will hold a meeting and take a tough decision and if necessary, Gurdeep Singh Bath may be asked to contest as an independent candidate.
