15 october 2024 : Tests have confirmed that Lamine Yamal has sustained only a strain in his left hamstring while playing for Spain, according to Barcelona on Monday.
The 17-year-old forward underwent testing after departing the national team following Spain’s 1-0 victory over Denmark in the Nations League on Saturday. Spain decided to send him back to his club to minimize the risk of further injury.
Barcelona has not provided a specific timeline for his recovery, stating only that he will remain sidelined until he is fully healed.
Barcelona’s next match is scheduled at home against Sevilla in the Spanish league on Sunday. Yamal is expected to be fit for the upcoming Champions League match against Bayern Munich on October 23, as well as the Spanish league “clasico” against Real Madrid three days later.
In Yamal’s absence, coach Luis de la Fuente has called up Atletico Madrid’s Rodrigo Riquelme. This season, Yamal has made 11 appearances and scored five goals for Barcelona.
