10 october 2024 : The ongoing doctors’ strike in West Bengal escalated on Wednesday, with more senior doctors from various government hospitals submitting mass resignations in solidarity with junior doctors protesting the horrific rape and murder of their colleague at RG Kar Medical College and Hospital in Kolkata. A late-night meeting between the state government and protesting junior doctors failed to resolve the deadlock.
