Mann Government Extends Helping Hand to AIDS Patients

Support Initiatives Provide Dignity and Financial Assistance to HIV-Positive Individuals

The Bhagwant Singh Mann Government is taking significant steps to support AIDS patients, a group often marginalised in society. Health Minister Dr. Balbir Singh recently unveiled an initiative to provide monthly financial assistance of ₹1,500 to HIV-positive individuals, aimed at enhancing their dignity and quality of life. This assistance plays a crucial role in alleviating the financial burdens faced by many patients, allowing them to focus on their health and well-being.

This groundbreaking plan also includes free monthly transportation for patients to access AntiRetroviral Therapy (ART) centres, ensuring that they receive essential medical treatment. To further empower HIV-affected individuals, the government is establishing a task force focused on increasing employment opportunities, enabling them to live with dignity. By creating job training programs and awareness initiatives, the government seeks to equip these individuals with the skills needed to thrive in the workforce.

Additionally, the Punjab Government has mandated that businesses with over 100 employees implement policies addressing HIV/AIDS discrimination and appoint grievance officers to handle related issues. These measures aim to foster an inclusive environment for those affected by HIV.

This initiative has restored hope for many, offering them a renewed sense of purpose and confidence in life. The Mann government’s commitment to supporting HIV-positive individuals reflects a broader effort to change societal perceptions and provide meaningful assistance to marginalised groups.
