Punjab Government Launches Landmark Initiative for NRIs at IGI Airport

In a significant move, the Punjab Government, led by Chief Minister Bhagwant Singh Mann, has inaugurated the Punjab Help Centre at Indira Gandhi International Airport, Terminal-3 in New Delhi. Launched on August 8, 2024, this pioneering initiative is the first of its kind in India, specifically designed to assist Non-Resident Indians (NRIs) and travellers from around the globe. Operating 24/7, the centre aims to provide crucial support to Punjabis living abroad and their families upon their arrival in India.

Recognizing the vital role NRIs play in promoting Punjab’s culture and values globally, the Mann Government has stepped up to address the significant challenges they face in handling administrative and personal matters back home. Previous administrations had overlooked these issues, but the Punjab Government is now committed to providing direct assistance through the Punjab Help Centre.

Travellers can access help with flight information, taxi services, lost baggage claims, and more. In emergencies, the Punjab Government will offer accommodations at Punjab Bhawan on Copernicus Marg, New Delhi, for NRIs and their relatives. Additionally, two Innova cars are available for transportation to nearby locations or to Punjab Bhawan.

This initiative exemplifies the Punjab Government’s dedication to meeting the needs of overseas Punjabis and delivering efficient, hassle-free services during their return to India.

The Punjab Help Centre has already garnered praise from the NRI community and is expected to greatly alleviate travel concerns for visitors coming from abroad, underscoring the Government’s commitment to its citizens abroad.
