23 september 2024 : The new song Mere Mehboob from Rajkummar Rao and Triptii Dimri’s film Vicky Aur Vidya Ka Woh Wala Video dropped on Monday, featuring the two stars in a sultry dance number. While the song’s catchy tune has drawn attention, the choreography, especially for Triptii, has received mixed reactions, with many fans calling it “cringe-worthy” and “embarrassing.” Choreographed by Ganesh Acharya, the video showcases Triptii in an uncharacteristic bold avatar, performing pelvic thrusts and gyrations, which sparked criticism on platforms like Twitter and Reddit.
Fans have voiced disappointment, with comments like, “This is embarrassing for Triptii,” and many blaming the choreography for being awkward. Some suggested that her role in Animal had typecast her, turning her into a sex symbol after just one bold scene, leading to more such performances. Social media users expressed sympathy, lamenting her shift from critically acclaimed films like Qala and Bulbbul to roles requiring such dance moves. One user wrote, “From Laila Majnu, Qala, Bulbbul to THIS? She deserves better.”
Directed by Raaj Shaandilya, Vicky Vidya Ka Woh Wala Video is a comedy about a lost sex tape of a newly-married couple set in the ’90s. Along with Rajkummar and Triptii, the film also stars Mallika Sherawat, Vijay Raaz, and Archana Puran Singh. It is set for release on October 11.
