September 3, 2024: India’s Yogesh Kathuniya won the silver medal in the men’s F56 discus throw event at the Paris Paralympics today, achieving a season-best throw of 42.22 meters. He had previously won a silver medal at the Tokyo Paralympics as well. The 27-year-old athlete made his best attempt on his first throw with a distance of 42.22 meters. Brazil’s Claudiney Batista dos Santos set a new record with a throw of 46.86 meters on his fifth attempt, achieving a hat-trick of gold medals at the Paralympics. Greece’s Konstantinos Zonis won the bronze medal with a throw of 41.32 meters. In this event with four competitors, Slovakia’s Dusan Lekcko finished last with a best throw of 41.20 meters.
