21 august 2024 :The discussion surrounding Bollywood and South Indian cinema has gained momentum following Arshad Warsi’s remark labeling Prabhas as a “joker” in reference to his performance in Kalki 2898 AD. While numerous film enthusiasts have rallied behind Arshad, fans of Prabhas have expressed their disapproval of the Asur actor’s statement. Furthermore, an old video featuring SS Rajamouli has resurfaced, in which he asserts that Hrithik Roshan does not compare to Prabhas.
SS Rajamouli’s Comparison of Prabhas and Hrithik Roshan
A user circulated a widely shared video of Rajamouli during the promotional events for Prabhas’ film Billa (2007). In this footage, the director remarked, “Upon the release of Dhoom 2 (2006) in Hindi, I felt disheartened that Bollywood was producing such high-quality content. I wondered why we lacked heroes like Hrithik Roshan. However, after viewing the song and poster for Billa, and subsequently the trailer, I can confidently state that Hrithik Roshan pales in comparison to Prabhas. Telugu cinema has significantly surpassed Bollywood, and we now stand on par with English films.”
Later, in a public engagement, Rajamouli clarified that his comments were not intended to belittle the War 2 actor, as he holds him in high regard.
Criticism of SS Rajamouli’s Remarks on Hrithik
In sharing the video, a user commented, “@ssrajamouli If you can utter such nonsense, then #ArshadWarsi is entirely justified! P.S: In terms of acting, dance, physique, and screen presence, #HrithikRoshan is far superior to #Prabhas. Hrithik, the actor, cannot be compared to Prabhas, the pretender (crying emoji).”
In a separate video from the event, Allu Arjun supported Rajamouli’s remarks by stating, “Prabhas possesses exceptional looks. He excels in action sequences and is the best in every aspect. As Rajamouli mentioned, Hrithik Roshan pales in comparison to Prabhas. This is indeed accurate.” A user expressed on Twitter, “No disrespect to Hrithik’s supporters, but #AlluArjun allegedly referred to #HrithikRoshan as insignificant when compared to #Prabhas! (shocking emoji) Why are certain funding pages lauding Allu while disparaging Prabhas and solely sharing SSR videos? (thinking emoji) Additionally, what prompted the sudden focus on Bollywood’s global transformation? #Prabhas #AlluArjun.”
Arshad Warsi’s critique of Prabhas’ Kalki 2898 AD
In his candid assessment of Kalki 2898 AD during the podcast – Unfiltered With Samdish, Arshad remarked, “Prabhas, I feel quite disappointed; he appeared almost comical. Why? I wish to see a Mad Max. I envision Mel Gibson in that role. What have you turned it into, my friend? I cannot comprehend why such decisions are made.”
