26 December 2025 Punjab Khabarnama Bureau : Chief Minister Bhagwant Mann on Thursday approved the launch of the Mukh Mantri Sehat Bima Yojana from January 15, 2026, thus ensuring cashless treatment worth Rs 10 lakh for every family in the state.

During a meeting with the Health Department, he said the Mukh Mantri Sehat Bima Yojana had been aimed at providing universal healthcare to the people.

“This is a step towards providing universal healthcare and ensuring that people get cashless treatment worth Rs 10 lakh. Punjab will be the first state in the country where every family will be entitled to the cashless treatment of up to Rs 10 lakh,” said the Chief Minister.

Mann said the flagship initiative would provide financial protection and quality healthcare to all Punjabis.

“This scheme is a step towards universal health coverage. Each enrolled family will be entitled for cashless medical treatment of up to Rs 10 lakh per year,” he added.

He said, “This scheme will cover critical care, surgeries and life-saving treatment at a wide network of empanelled government and private hospitals in Punjab and Chandigarh.”

Mann said all expenses like hospitalisation costs, surgeries and medical procedures, ICU and critical care services, diagnostics, medicines, and consumables as per approved packages, pre-and post-hospitalisation expenses and others would be covered under the Mukh Mantri Sehat Bima Yojana.
