Gurdaspur, 25 Aug 2025 (Punjab Khabarnama Bureau): The central government of the Bharatiya Janata Party is going to stop the free ration provided to 55 lakh poor Punjabis out of the total 1.53 crore ration cards in Punjab, which will not be tolerated at any cost. This was revealed by the state working president of the Aam Aadmi Party and MLA from Batala, Mr. Aman Sher Singh Sherry Kalsi, while addressing a press conference at the local Panchayat Bhawan today. On this occasion, he was accompanied by MLA of Sri Hargobindpur, Advocate Amarpal Singh, MLA of Dera Baba Nanak, Mr. Gurdeep Singh Randhawa, Punjab Health Systems Corporation Chairman Mr. Raman Bahl, S. Jagroop Singh Sekhwan, S. Balbir Singh Pannu, Mr. Shamsher Singh Dinanagar, District President Joban Randhawa and the party’s District Media Incharge Mukhdev Singh Alowal were also present.
Talking to reporters during the press conference, State Working President Mr. Sherry Kalsi said that the Modi government has stopped the ration of 23 lakh poor people since July itself on the pretext of lack of KYC and now it has threatened to stop the ration of 32 lakh more people after September 30. He said that this anti-people and anti-poor decision of the Central Government is a direct attack on Punjab. He said that the people of Punjab feed the entire country by producing food grains and now the same Central Government wants to empty the plates of the poor families of Punjab. He said that the Punjab government considers this as a betrayal of trust by the central government with the people of Punjab and the Aam Aadmi Party will fight against this injustice at every level.
State Working President and MLA Mr. Sherry Kalsi said that the BJP wants to punish Punjab. Mr. Kalsi said that the BJP says that stop the ration of those beneficiaries who have a car, 2.5 acres of land, the son does the government job. He said that in reality, people sitting in the AC rooms of Delhi do not understand the real condition of the villages of Punjab. He questioned the central government that if the son gets a job, does it make the whole family rich? Does having an old car mean that the family cannot go hungry? He said that in reality, the BJP does not want to understand the pain of the poor of Punjab, it is only finding excuses and stopping the ration.
Mr. Aman Sher Singh Sherry Kalsi said that The Punjab government will not stop the ration of any poor person. He said that the verification of 1.29 crore ration beneficiaries has been completed and the verification of the remaining people will be completed by going door to door in the next 6 months. He said that the Bhagwant Mann government has a promise to Punjabis that the ration card of any beneficiary will not be cut, no mother’s plate will remain empty and no child will remain hungry. He said that this is not just ration, it is a fight for respect, a fight for rights and if necessary, the Aam Aadmi Party will hold an agitation in the entire Punjab. He said that we will not compromise with the rights of the poor of Punjab.
