Ferozepur, 16 June 2025 (Punjab Khabarnama Bureau): A meeting of the District Health Society Ferozepur was held under the chairmanship of Deputy Commissioner Deepashikha Sharma. During the meeting, the Deputy Commissioner reviewed the progress of various national health programs. Present on the occasion were Civil Surgeon Dr. Rajwinder Kaur, senior medical officers, program officers, officials from various departments, and representatives from the IMA (Indian Medical Association).
The program officers from the department provided detailed information about their program targets and achievements. The discussions included topics such as ANC checkups, immunization, the National TB Control Program, HIV, leprosy, UDID, School Health Program, Blindness Control Program, IDSP (Integrated Disease Surveillance Program), and the National Vector Borne Disease Control Program.
On this occasion, the Deputy Commissioner emphasized ensuring 100% achievement of the health program targets set by the government. She directed all program officers to ensure the effective implementation of national health programs at the village level so that maximum people can benefit from health services.
While addressing all the SMOs present, she instructed them to provide every possible health facility to mothers and children, and ensure maximum institutional deliveries in government hospitals. She also emphasized organizing special immunization camps to protect children from diseases, ensuring that no child is left out of vaccination due to any reason.
The Deputy Commissioner stated that through special awareness seminars, school children will be made more aware of non-communicable diseases like diabetes. Once schools reopen, a “Sugar-Free Campaign” will be launched in schools.
As part of the state’s anti-drug campaign, she mentioned that every possible step is being taken to treat patients suffering from drug addiction.
On this occasion, Civil Surgeon Dr. Rajwinder Kaur shared that a diarrhea prevention campaign will be run from July 1 to August 31 by the Health Department. During this campaign, ASHA workers will go door to door distributing ORS packets and zinc tablets. ORS-zinc corners will also be established at all health institutions and Anganwadi centers. Children will be educated in schools about cleanliness, handwashing techniques, and more.
WHO Medical Officer Dr. Megha Prakash shared detailed information about eliminating measles and rubella among children.
Also present in the meeting were SP Manjeet Singh, Deputy District Education Officer (Secondary Education) Dr. Satinder Singh, Assistant Civil Surgeon Dr. Sushma Thakkar, District Immunization Officer Dr. Meenakshi Dhingra, District Family Welfare Officer Dr. Mandeep, and all SMOs.
