May 29, 2025 (Punjab News Bureau): The famous Punjabi singer Shubhdeep Singh, also known as Sidhu Moosewala, was shot dead in Mansa district on May 29, 2022, exactly three years ago today. The responsibility for his murder was claimed by the Lawrence Bishnoi gang and the absconding accused Goldy Brar. On the day of the attack, Sidhu Moosewala had left his home with some friends in a black Thar vehicle. The gangsters reached near Jawaharke village, surrounded their car from all sides, and fired over 30 bullets, 19 of which hit Moosewala.
Goldy Brar, associated with the Lawrence gang, took responsibility for the attack. So far, the police have named and filed chargesheets against 36 people, including the gangsters Lawrence and Goldy Brar. More than 30 accused have been arrested, but the main accused still remain out of reach. Sidhu’s family and fans are still awaiting justice.

Today, Sidhu Moosewala’s fans are commemorating his third anniversary. Many changes have come over these three years. Since he was the only son of his parents, Moosewala’s home became silent, but now the laughter of his younger brother fills the house.
Sidhu Moosewala had entered politics hoping for a better future for Punjab and had contested elections from Mansa on a Congress ticket. After his death, his father Balkar Singh has announced his entry into politics.
Because of his songs, Moosewala still lives on today.
Balkar Singh may also be seen contesting elections; it is possible that in 2027 he might contest from the Mansa seat, from where Sidhu Moosewala had earlier contested. Besides this, Moosewala’s songs are loved by people living in every corner of the world; Moosewala was listened to in America and Africa as well.
In the three years since his death, eight songs of Moosewala have been released. Among these, the most controversial was the song “SYL,” in which Moosewala spoke about Punjab’s water issues and challenged the central government. Moosewala’s parents had announced that they will continue to release the songs he had already recorded from time to time, thus keeping their son alive forever.
Summary: Today marks the completion of 3 years since Moosewala’s assassination. On this day, a memorial will be held in Mansa in his memory, where people will pay their respects.
