15 April 2025 (Punjab Khabarnama Bureau): Under the Punjab Education Revolution Program initiated by the Punjab government led by Chief Minister Bhagwant Singh Mann, Fazilka MLA Narinder Pal Singh Sawna today inaugurated development works worth ₹87.42 lakh in four schools across three villages in his constituency.

While addressing the gathering, MLA Narinder Pal Singh Sawna shared that the Punjab government has regularized 12,700 contractual teachers and recruited 20,000 new teachers to ensure better education in schools. He mentioned that there is no shortage of teachers now, and arrangements are also being made in schools for security guards, campus managers, helpers, and watchmen.

MLA Sawna further stated that alongside education, the government is giving special attention to the health sector. He said that Fazilka’s Cancer Hospital is being upgraded with ₹50 crore, and a Critical Care Center is being established in Fazilka at a cost of ₹23 crore. He also mentioned that the shortage of doctors at Fazilka Civil Hospital has been addressed, and 39 doctors have been made available there.

On this occasion, his wife Khushboo Sawna (Sukhha Sawna) also addressed the audience, encouraging village residents to educate their daughters by saying, “If we study, we will move forward.” She emphasized that the government is improving schools and there is no lack of facilities in government schools. She appealed to the people to stay away from drugs, plant trees, and focus on education and sports.

During the event, MLA Narinder Pal Singh Sawna inaugurated development works worth:

  • ₹18.28 lakh at Government Primary School Chawarianwali,
  • ₹43.27 lakh at Government High School Chawarianwali,
  • ₹16.23 lakh at Government Middle School Abhun, and
  • ₹9.64 lakh at Government Primary School Jordki Kankarwali.

He also mentioned that a sports ground costing ₹27 lakh and a volleyball ground costing ₹5 lakh have been developed in village Chawarianwali.

Among others present at the event were Education Coordinator Surinder Kamboj, Deputy District Education Officer Parvinder Singh, Block President Gurpal Singh, DNO of the Education Department Vijay Pal, and other dignitaries.
