Advocate Harpal Singh Khara mentioned that there are approximately 70 seats in Punjab’s Malwa region. He said that the plan is to have Amritpal Singh contest from a seat in Malwa, and the goal is to win as many seats as possible from this region so that Amritpal Singh can become the Chief Minister. Along with this, Amritpal Singh’s father, Tarsem Singh, emphasized Punjab’s autonomy and stated that the state should be given more powers to effectively address regional concerns.
Who is Amritpal Singh? Amritpal Singh is the leader of the “Waris Punjab De” organization and a pro-Khalistan Sikh preacher. He was elected as an independent Member of Parliament from Khadoor Sahib, Punjab, in 2024. He was arrested in April 2023 under the National Security Act (NSA) for allegedly attacking the Ajnala Police Station and promoting Khalistani activities. He is currently incarcerated in the Dibrugarh Jail in Assam.
