Moga, April 3, 2025 (Punjab Khabarnama Bureau): Dr. Gurpreet Singh, Chief Agriculture Officer, Moga, stated that as per the directives of the Punjab Government, a district-level farmer training camp will be organized on April 4, 2025, at Gurdwara Sahib (Shaheedan), Village Khosa Pando. The camp aims to provide farmers with information regarding crops to be sown during the Kharif 2025 season, the proper use of agricultural machinery, fertilizers, and pesticides, the importance of soil and water testing, subsidiary occupations, and other agriculture-related techniques.
The training camp will be inaugurated by Deputy Commissioner of Moga, Mr. Sagar Setia. The Directorate of Agriculture and Farmers’ Welfare Department will preside over the event, and all MLAs will be special guests.
The experts from the Agriculture and Farmers’ Welfare Department and Punjab Agricultural University, Ludhiana, will share insights on various topics. The sessions will include:
- Dr. Parminder Kaur: Importance of nutritional elements in today’s lifestyle.
- Dr. Manpreet Jaidka: Kharif crop production.
- Dr. Prerna Thakur: Vegetable cultivation.
- Dr. Prabhjot Kaur: Animal husbandry and care.
- Dr. Sandeep Kumar: Pest and disease management in Kharif crops.
- Dr. Sukhraj Kaur Deol (Agriculture Department expert): Soil and water testing.
- Dr. Baljinder Singh: Cotton cultivation.
- Dr. Jasbir Kaur: Importance of nutrients in farming and direct seeding of rice (DSR).
- Dr. Gurlavleen Singh: Cultivation of maize and moong (green gram).
Additionally, exhibitions related to agricultural machinery, self-help groups, allied agricultural businesses, and farm products will also be organized.
The entire staff of the Agriculture Department will be present at the training camp to address farmers’ concerns. The Agriculture and Farmers’ Welfare Department, District Moga, has strongly urged farmers to participate in this training camp.
