2 April 2025(Punjab Khabarnama Bureau): Reacting to the entire Opposition in Punjab coming together to condemn the state’s ruling Aam Aadmi Party for withdrawing the Z-plus security cover of Akali Dal leader Bikram Singh Majithia, party’s state president Aman Arora on Wednesday questioned them over their sympathy for Majithia.
The government on Tuesday withdrew the Z-plus security of Majithia.
He had alleged that the security cover was withdrawn as a retaliation to his constantly raising issues against the AAP government.
Other than top Akali leaders, leaders from Congress and BJP had also criticised the government over the withdrawal of Majithia’s security.
A day after, Aman Arora, in a video message, questioned the Opposition leaders why they were sympathetic towards a person facing drug smuggling charges.
“Aam Aadmi Party has been constantly saying that everyone, across the political spectrum, is equally involved in their tacit support for the illicit drug trade in Punjab. The way the three parties Congress, Akali and BJP are talking together today about removing the security, they never came together for the rights of Punjabi people,” he said.
Arora said that supporting the Akali leader proved that these three parties do not want to see the end of drug addiction from Punjab. “Today when a big campaign has been launched in Punjab against drugs, a person accused of drug smuggling was given security that is given to the Prime Minister. Was it right?,” he asked.
Arora has reiterated that no one will be spared in the government action against the drug menace in Punjab, whoever he may be.
Summary: Punjab Minister Aman Arora criticizes the opposition for showing concern over Bikram Singh Majithia’s security withdrawal, questioning their motives behind the support.
