IPL 2025, SRH vs LSG Live Score, Sunrisers Hyderabad vs Lucknow Super Giants: Lucknow Super Giants skipper Rishabh Pant won the toss and opted to bowl against Sunrisers Hyderabad in their IPL 2025 fixture, on Thursday. It is expected to be a high-scoring encounter as Sunrisers Hyderabad have succesfully followed their power-hitting template from last season into IPL 2025. They began their campaign with a 44-run win vs Rajasthan Royals, where new acquisition Ishan Kishan smacked an unbeaten century (106* off 47 balls). LSG are a new-look side this season, having broken up with KL Rahul, who was skipper till last season. Rahul oversaw two playoff finishes in 2022 and 2023.
Meanwhile last May, Travis Head and Abhishek Sharma destroyed LSG’s sub-par total of 165, by chasing it down in 9.4 overs. Since then, LSG have been rebuilding, and only two Lucknow bowlers from that night will take on the field on Thursday, in the guise of Ravi Bishnoi and Ayush Badoni. Meanwhile, Lucknow roped in Rishabh Pant for a record-purchase of ₹27 crores. In LSG’s opener, Pant wasn’t able to justify the price tag as he got dismissed for a six-ball duck against former side DC, and it just showcased why they didn’t retain him for this season. Pant hasn’t been at his best since his freak car accident, and he lost his place in the ODI setup to KL Rahul, who was the first-choice wicketkeeper-batter throughout the Champions Trophy 2025 campaign. Meanwhile, Pant warmed the bench.
Despite losing their opener, LSG boast a strong top order, which showcased its abilities against DC. Opener Mitchell Marsh smacked 72 runs off 36 balls as an Impact Player and Nicholas Pooran hammered 75 off 30 deliveries. In Hyderabad, runs will be on offer in plenty, and they will look to replicate their start from their previous fixture. LSG raced to a strong start in their opener, but crumbled in the end. In the last seven overs, they only got 48 runs, losing six wickets.
Cummins is coming after some time out of action due to injury, which also saw him miss the Champions Trophy in Pakistan. SRH’s season opener was his first T20 since last year’s MLC which ended in July. Cummins will be key for SRH in the middle overs, especially against the likes of Pant and David Miller.
