Haryana’s Power, Transport and Labour Minister Mr. Anil Vij said that the work of deepening the Tangri river bed by six feet in Ambala Cantonment has been started, which will benefit thousands of residents of the nearby colonies. He said that the sand extracted from the Tangri river area in Ambala Cantonment would be used in the Ambala Ring Road Project being carried out under the National Highway Authority. Besides, the river dam would be strengthened and raised up to Jagadhari Road at a cost of Rs 2.67 crore.
Mr Vij said that since the river bed is six feet deep, the water will not overflow during the rainy season.
He said that to deepen the Tangri river, a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) was signed between the Irrigation Department, National Highway Authority of India and Municipal Council Ambala Sadar, under which the sand extracted from the Tangri river area in Ambala Cantonment would be used in the Ambala Ring Road project being run under the National Highway Authority.
He said that as the river bed will become deeper than before, water will easily flow out of Ambala Cantonment area during rainy days, which will provide safety to thousands of residents of dozens of colonies situated nearby. He said that this work will be completed before the rains.

Energy and Transport Minister Anil Vij said that wherever the Tangri river is narrow in Ambala Cantonment, the river will be made wider than before so that there is no obstruction in the flow of rainwater. He said that guidelines have been given to the irrigation departments in this regard and the proposal has been sent by the department to the government for approval, on which work is expected to start soon.

Cabinet Minister Anil Vij said that the work of raising and strengthening the Tangri river dam (embankment) in Rampur-Sarsehdi is in progress. The river dam will be strengthened and raised up to Jagadhari Road at a cost of Rs 2.67 crore. The work was started in the month of February and it is being completed rapidly now so that it can be completed before the rains.

Cabinet Minister Anil Vij said that the work of raising and strengthening the Tangri Dam towards Rampur-Sarsehdi is already underway, but now the work of deepening the river bed by six feet has begun. This will prevent rainwater from flowing out of the Tangri Dam (embankment) and people will get protection from water.
The work of connecting Tangri Dam Road to GT Road will be completed soon: Anil Vij
Cabinet Minister Anil Vij said that the work of connecting Tangri Dam Road to GT Road via Ghasitpur Railway Gate will be completed soon. He said that with the construction of this road, the residents of Shahpur, Machhunda, Ghasitpur, Sector 32-34, the new grain market on GT Road and thousands of residents of other colonies will get great convenience. A new route will be available to reach GT Road and the drivers will benefit a lot. This work will be completed in the coming days.
Work on widening Tangri Dam Road is in progress: Anil Vij
Energy and Transport Minister Anil Vij said that the work of widening the Tangri Dam Road is currently in progress. He said that the road will be widened by six feet which will provide convenience to the drivers. He said that the work of widening the road has been started from the side of Maheshwar Nagar Pump House. Along with this, street lights will also be installed on the road.
