Chandigarh, March 24 (Punjab Khabarnama Bureau): Dr Ravi Bhagat, an IAS officer with distinguished service, assumed charge as Principal Secretary to the Chief Minister in the presence of senior officers of the Punjab Government at his office today.
It is noteworthy that senior Indian Administrative Service officer Dr. Ravi Bhagat has served in various positions in the state government. Dr. Ravi Bhagat, a 2006 batch IAS officer, is always ready to implement innovations to provide the benefit of citizen-centric services to the general public. He is known for his active and responsible working style towards public services.
Dr. Ravi Bhagat, a doctorate in ‘MSP of Geopolitics’, made a stellar debut in administrative services as Sub-Divisional Magistrate Malot in the year 2008-2009. After this, he served as Deputy Commissioner in Faridkot, Amritsar and Ludhiana. He also served as Chief Administrator of Punjab Urban Development Authority and GMADA, Secretary Mandi Board, CEO e-Governance, Director Information and Public Relations, Secretary New and Renewable Energy Sources. From the year 2021 till now, he is efficiently and effectively discharging his services as Special Principal Secretary to the Chief Minister.
This officer is credited with implementing many innovative and effective schemes in the fields of health, education, social security and governance. Dr. Ravi Bhagat’s important steps taken for the convenience of the people by streamlining public services during the challenging times of the Covid-19 pandemic were appreciated by all. This young officer has received many prestigious national and international awards and honors for his outstanding services.
Similarly, under his leadership a Guinness World Record was created in the year 2015 when 10,000 students participated in an anti-drug campaign. Another Guinness World Record was created in the year 2018 when 82 patriots sang a song for peace.
Chairing the meeting after assuming charge of his office today, the Principal Secretary to the Chief Minister said that implementation of people-friendly and development-oriented policies of the State Government led by Chief Minister S. Bhagwant Singh Mann would be his priority. Dr. Ravi Bhagat said that in line with the commitment of the Government, more focus would be laid on education, health, employment and other key sectors. He also said that it would be ensured that the benefits of citizen-centric services reach the public in a timely manner.
