Sangrur, March 22 (Punjab Khabarnama Bureau): Sardar Harjeet Singh Grewal, Joint Director posted at headquarters Chandigarh in the Information and Public Relations Department of the Punjab Government, has been promoted to the position of Additional Director. A State Awardee, Harjeet Singh Grewal, who is renowned internationally as a Gatka promoter, holds a law degree from Punjabi University, Patiala. His promotion was confirmed on Friday following a meeting of the department’s promotion committee, chaired by the department’s Secretary, Malwinder Singh Jaggi.
Notably, Harjeet Singh Grewal, born in the nearby village of Sakraudi, has been a leading figure in promoting, propagating, and preserving Gatka, the Sikh martial art, as a globally recognized sport since nearly 17 years. Former science student of Ranbir College, Sangrur, Grewal’s promotion has been met with great joy by his villagers and local residents. They expressed that by honoring him, the state government has further encouraged his dedication to the ancient Sikh martial art, and he truly deserved this recognition and honor.
They added that this move by the department will further enhance the commitment and efficiency of this Sikh officer dedicated to public service.
