17 march 2025 (Punjab Khabarnama Bureau): The Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) has imposed financial penalties on several cricketers including allrounder Aamer Jamal for breaching code of conduct. As per reports in Pakistan media, Jamal has been fined PKR 1.3 million for wearing a cap with political message written on it during an on-field interview.
As per Geo News, the 28-year-old was wearing cap with “804″ written on it during the first Test of a three-match series against England at home in October last year.
The number 804 reportedly was in solidarity with legendary Pakistan captain and former Prime Minister Imran Khan who is currently in jail serving a sentence.
804 is said to be Imran’s prison badge number.
Additionally, three more Pakistan cricketers have been asked to fork a penalty of PKR 500,000 each for their actions during the Australia tour in November 2024.
Salman Agha, Saim Ayub, Abdullah Shafique and Abbas Afridi have reportedly been punished for late arrival to the team hotel and thus breaking the curfew during their South Africa tour.
Pakistan players faced heavy criticism following the team’s early exit from the Champions Trophy 2025. Led by Mohammad Rizwan, the hosts failed to win a single match during their ill-fated campaign that saw them suffering heavy defeats to India and New Zealand.
Following the ICC tournament, PCB reportedly slashed the match fees of players taking part in the National T20 Cup. As per various reports, the players will be paid PKR 10,000 each now which is 75 per cent of what they earned during the last edition of the competition.
Pakistan are currently in New Zealand where they are scheduled to play eight white-ball matches including five T20Is and three ODIs.
The Agha-led T20I team made a poor start to the tour as New Zealand stormed to a nine-wicket win in Christchurch on Sunday. Batting first, Pakistan were skittled for 91 with pace duo of Jacob Duffy and Kyle Jamieson sharing seven wickets.
The hosts chased down the target in just 10.1 overs.
