Chandigarh7 march 2025 (Punjab Khabarnama Bureau): Farmer unions related to the Samyukt Kisan Morcha, including BKU Ekta Dakounda, BKU Rajewal, Kirti Kisan Union, and All India Kisan Sabha, have announced the end of their ongoing protest near village Bald Kothi on the Bathinda-Zirakpur National Highway from tomorrow. They also declared that on March 10, from 12 PM to 3 PM, they will protest in front of the residences of the legislators.
Earlier, during the protest, farmers who were released from jail, including Gurmeet Singh Bhattiwal, the state vice-president of BKU Ekta Dakounda, Budh Singh Bald, district president of BKU Rajewal Gurmeet Singh Kapiyal, Dr. Baljinder Singh Sangherdi, Ajab Singh Sangherdi, and Udhham Singh Santokhpura, were honored by farmer leaders with floral garlands. On this occasion, Karma Singh Baliyal, district president of BKU Ekta Dakounda, and Bhupinder Singh Longowal, state leader of Kirti Kisan Union, said that the police had arrested these farmer leaders from their homes and sent them to jail. However, under pressure from the struggle by the farmer organizations, the government had to release them late at night.
On this occasion, Major Singh Punnawal, leader of All India Kisan Sabha, Kulvinder Singh Majha, block president of BKU Rajewal, Sarabjeet Singh Kapiyal, Baljinder Singh Kapiyal, Karamjeet Singh Safipur, Sukhdev Singh Ubhawal, Jagatar Singh Dugga, Sukhveer Singh of BKU Dakounda, Kulvinder Singh, and a large number of farmers present raised slogans against the Punjab government.
