Batala, January 28 (Punjab Khabarnama Bureau): In accordance with the instructions of the Honorable Gurdwara Election Commission, the preliminary publication of the voter lists for the Shiromani Gurdwara Parbandhak Committee (Board) election constituencies 104-Sri Hargobindpur, 105-Batala, 106-Kala Afghana, 107-Dera Baba Nanak, 108-Dhariwal, and 109-Gurdaspur in the district of Gurdaspur was carried out at the designated offices of the Deputy Commissioner, the relevant Revising Authorities/Returning Officers, the tehsil offices, patwari offices, and notified Sikh Gurdwaras on January 3, 2025, and the voter lists have been available for inspection at these locations since then.
In this regard, Deputy Commissioner of Gurdaspur, Mr. Uma Shankar Gupta, informed that the deadline for claims and objections related to the voter lists of the Shiromani Gurdwara Parbandhak Committee (Board) has been extended to March 10, 2025.
He mentioned that the claims/objections on the draft voter lists for the following constituencies will be accepted until March 10, 2025, by the respective Revising Authorities:
- 104-Sri Hargobindpur (SDM Kalwanor)
- 105-Batala (SDM Batala)
- 106-Kala Afghana (SDM Fatehgarh Churian)
- 107-Dera Baba Nanak (SDM Dera Baba Nanak)
- 108-Dhariwal (Assistant Commissioner (J) Gurdaspur)
- 109-Gurdaspur (SDM Gurdaspur)
The received claims/objections will be disposed of by March 24, 2025. If any claims/objections are approved, draft/supplementary lists will be prepared and printed by April 15, 2025, and the final publication of the voter lists will take place on April 16, 2025.
Deputy Commissioner Mr. Uma Shankar Gupta further stated that if there are any clerical or printing errors in the draft voter lists, they should be brought to the attention of the respective Revising Authorities so that necessary corrections can be made before the final publication.
He mentioned that individuals wishing to file claims/objections regarding the draft voter lists should submit their written objections or claims in person, by post, or through a certified agent to the relevant Revising Authorities by the specified date. Only individuals who are 21 years of age or older and whose names are already listed in the voter list of that election constituency are eligible to file objections.
