Chandigarh, January 15, 2025 (Punjab Khabarnama Bureau): A cyclonic circulation in the form of a Western Disturbance is present over Iran and adjoining areas at lower and mid-tropospheric levels. As a result, rain and snowfall are likely in Jammu and Kashmir, Ladakh, Gilgit, Baltistan, and Muzaffarabad until January 16.

Rain (Rain Alert) is expected on January 15 and 16 in Uttarakhand, until January 17 in Himachal Pradesh, on January 15 in Western Rajasthan, Punjab, Haryana, Chandigarh, Uttar Pradesh, and on January 15 and 16 in Eastern Rajasthan.

A Yellow Alert for fog has been issued in Punjab and Himachal Pradesh. Additionally, IMD has issued an Orange Alert for dense fog in Haryana, Chandigarh, and Delhi (Delhi-NCR weather update). In Northeast India, a Yellow Alert for fog has been issued for Assam, Meghalaya, Nagaland, Manipur, Mizoram, and Tripura.

In parts of Jammu, Kashmir, and Ladakh, minimum temperatures (as of January 15, 2025) are below 0°C. Some areas in Himachal Pradesh are recording temperatures between 1°C and 4°C, while parts of Northwest and Central India range between 4°C and 10°C. In Eastern and Western India, temperatures range between 10°C and 16°C.

A fresh Western Disturbance is likely to impact the Western Himalayan region from January 18, 2025. This could result in continued rain and snowfall from January 18 to January 20 in these regions.

Summary:
Rain is expected in multiple regions, including Uttarakhand, Himachal Pradesh, Rajasthan, Punjab, Haryana, Chandigarh, and Uttar Pradesh on January 15 and 16. Yellow Alerts for fog have also been issued for several states.
