Chandigarh, January 6, 2025 (Punjab Khabarnama Bureau): A tragic incident has been reported from Srinagar, Jammu and Kashmir, where an electric blower used for warmth claimed the lives of an entire family. In Sheikh Mohalla of the Pandrethan area, five members of a family living in a rented house died due to suffocation. This heartbreaking incident has left the entire locality in mourning.

The tragedy came to light when the neighbors informed the police after noticing no activity from the family in the morning. When the police broke into the house, they found the husband, wife, and their three innocent children unconscious. They were immediately rushed to the hospital, but doctors declared them dead on arrival.

Administration’s Response to the Tragic Incident
The victims have been identified as 38-year-old Ejaz Ahmad Bhatt, his 32-year-old wife Salima, and their three children: 3-year-old Arib, 18-month-old Hamza, and 1-month-old Imran. The Lieutenant Governor of the state, Manoj Sinha, and Omar Abdullah have expressed deep sorrow over the incident. They have appealed for caution when using heating devices to prevent such tragedies.

Neighbors Alerted the Police
According to police sources, neighbors called the control room after noticing the family had not come out since morning. Upon reaching the scene, the police broke the door open and found an electric blower running in the room. It is suspected that the deaths were due to suffocation. The police have registered a case and initiated an investigation.
