Chandigarh, January 5, 2025 (Punjab Khabarnama Bureau): The Namo Bharat train has officially begun operations in the nation’s capital. Prime Minister Narendra Modi inaugurated the Sahibabad-New Ashok Nagar section of the Delhi-Ghaziabad-Meerut Rapid Rail Corridor today. He flagged off the Namo Bharat train and traveled aboard it from Sahibabad to the New Ashok Nagar station. Previously, the Namo Bharat service operated on the 42-kilometer Sahibabad to Meerut South section. From today, high-speed trains will run on the extended 55-kilometer section of the Namo Bharat Corridor, which includes 11 stations in total.
Starting at 5 PM today, the Namo Bharat train service will be available from New Ashok Nagar station to Meerut. The trains will run every 15 minutes in both directions. With the commencement of operations on this section, Meerut City is now directly connected to Delhi via the Namo Bharat train. Passengers can complete the journey from New Ashok Nagar to Meerut South in just 40 minutes. Construction on the remaining sections of the corridor, namely New Ashok Nagar-Sarai Kale Khan and Meerut South-Modipuram, is progressing rapidly.
Fare Details
The Namo Bharat train fare is higher compared to other trains due to its modern facilities and reduced travel time. From New Ashok Nagar to Meerut South, the fare for a standard coach is ₹150, while for a premium coach, it is ₹225. The fare from New Ashok Nagar to Modinagar North is ₹130 for the standard coach and ₹195 for the premium coach. Similarly, tickets for Modinagar South are available at ₹120 and ₹180, respectively.
For the journey between New Ashok Nagar and Muradnagar, passengers will pay ₹100 for the standard coach and ₹150 for the premium coach. From New Ashok Nagar to Duhai Depot, the fare is ₹90 for the standard coach and ₹135 for the premium coach. Other fares include ₹80 and ₹120 for Duhai, ₹70 and ₹105 for Guldhar, ₹60 and ₹90 for Ghaziabad, and ₹50 and ₹75 for Sahibabad. The fare from New Ashok Nagar to Anand Vihar is ₹30 for the standard coach and ₹45 for the premium coach.
